Pop Tastic!

Here's our daughter Erin (sixth birthday imminently approaching) who sings non-stop, loves listening to music, and likes to play on this wee plastic guitar, also hammers the piano in the background. There's something inherently "right" about this picture...I think she will become a "proper musician" at some point (noooooo!) Calum and Erin have both participated in the Youth Music Initiative; he is getting drum lessons free for a year at a local school, Erin did a 12 week singing thingy. At that stage where I wonder if we should buy her a decent wee guitar. My first instrument was a guitar, bought from Golumbs in Glasgow. It had a neck the width of the Forth Road Bridge, and strings made of barbed wire. Coupled with my wee fat pork sausage fingers, I think all the odds were stacked against me. Hence the drums! (Parents everywhere - beg borrow or steal the best instrument you can get for your prodiges. Ask a friendly long in the tooth gig-savvy muso for some advice - not the monosyllabic bloke in the local music emporium! If they are to survive and flourish as a muso, they need the best wee instruments the budget can bear!) Two weeks later - I don't like music anymore, I'm into Karate...
